I met Junior just after a rigged fight in Italy for the European title. Though he had dominated every single round and his opponent was barely able to find his chair in the corner, the Italian jury decided in favour of the homeboxer. I would learn this is alas not uncommon in professional. Junior said: “I knew it beforehand. Nobody has ever brought a title back from Italy. I had to take him down or I was always going to lose on points. I was confident I could take him down, but the referee intervened every time I was about to.”
“How can we help you,” I asked?
“Make me big on the internet,” he said.
We picked up the gauntlet. Here was a client we didn’t want to disappoint.
Bigger. Better. Faster.
A quick analysis of Juniors existing channels showed us he actually had a fairly decent media exposure. Junior was regularly interviewed for magazines, newspapers and radio. Occasionally he appeared on TV, both local and national television. Online, his Facebook page reached an engaged audience. His website looked attractive.
However, we noted a couple of issues:
the fanbase was very local - limiting our organic growth potential
the content wasn’t attractive enough to secure professional sponsor deals
updates were highly irregular, sometimes frustrating the community
though the website was attractive, it was static and not SEO optimised
Our strategy was pretty straightforward. We were going to get bigger, better and faster.
improve the quality of the content
publish more often
grow our community faster

Self promotion is one thing. The reputation of your clients is another.
The lawyers of VSA pride themselves to go all the way in defending the interests of their clients. Often, these clients need legal defence in a court of law. Even more frequently, these battles are fought in the arena of the public opinion. Regardless of the verdict of a judge or jury, entire reputations are made or broken in cases that stir the social debate.
That’s why we also implemented online reputation management for Van Steenbrugge Advocaten.
For some of his high-profile clients, we monitor both mentions and sentiment 24/7. Alerts are automatically triggered when highly influential media talk about them. The lawyers can then decide with the client to use the appropriate follow-up actions that are defined in flows, leaving as little as possible to improvisation.
With an updated website, an active use of social media channels and a solid content strategy, Van Steenbrugge Advocaten has an online presence that is on par with its offline reputation. This resulted in:
increased awareness of Van Steenbrugge Advocaten in the areas of Sports Law and Corporate Laws
a 150% increase in organic monthly website visits
On top of that, by offering online reputation management to its services, Van Steenbrugge Advocaten has truly innovated in a rather conservative sector. It goes to show that when they say they go all the way in defending their clients, they really mean business.
